Matthew E. Monaghan

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Monaghan was appointed the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2015 and was named Chairman of the Board on May 14, 2015. He was previously the Senior Vice President, Global Hips and Reconstructive Research of Zimmer Holdings, Inc., a global company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets orthopedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma devices, dental implants, and related surgical products. Prior to joining Zimmer in 2009, Monaghan spent eight years as an operating executive for two leading private equity firms, Texas Pacific Group (TPG) and Cerberus Capital Management, where he led acquisitions and operational improvements of portfolio companies, which included the carve-out from Baxter Healthcare of a global medical device business, making significant improvements at a U.S. personal insurance business and running a consumer durable goods business spun off from Newell-Rubber-maid. He spent the first 13 years of his career in aerospace, medical and other industrial businesses of General Electric Company. Monaghan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from INSEAD in France.

Robert K. Gudbranson

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Gudbranson began his career at J.P. Morgan in corporate financial management and banking. He spent a number of years with Invacare in various financial positions in business development, investor relations and treasury. He then served as vice president of strategic planning and acquisitions for a global manufacturer before returning to Invacare to assume the CFO position. He holds a B.A. in applied mathematics from Yale University and a master's degree in politics and economics from Oxford University.

Gordon Sutherland

Senior Vice President and General Manager, Europe

Sutherland is responsible for the performance of the Company’s European segment, which includes Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Invacare in 2012, Sutherland served as the Vice President, Global Marketing – Chronic at Gambro Renal Products. His experience at Gambro also included senior level positions in general management, business strategy and operations. He has a strong medical device background with an international business career including Baxter Healthcare, Bristol Myers Squib, C.R. Bard and Johnson & Johnson. Sutherland holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree from Edinburgh Napier University and an MBA, Marketing, from the University of Warwick – Warwick Business School.

Dean Childers

Senior Vice President and General Manager, North America

Childers is responsible for the performance of the Company’s North America/Home Medical Equipment and Institutional Products Group segments. Throughout his career Dean has demonstrated positive results in delivering global revenue growth and profit improvement across customer service, supply chain, procurement, finance, IT and operations. His experience includes senior level positions at medical device companies, including Integra LifeSciences, Zimmer, Inc. and Fenwal, Inc. Childers holds a B.S., Accountancy from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and an MBA, International Business, from Saint Louis University.

Anthony C. LaPlaca

Senior Vice President and General Counsel

LaPlaca is responsible for all legal affairs, risk management and intellectual property. He also serves as the corporate secretary. Before joining Invacare, LaPlaca was vice president and general counsel of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, and its predecessor businesses at Honeywell International Inc. from 1997 through 2008. Prior to that time, he was a partner at a Cleveland-based national law firm. He holds a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Patricia Stumpp

Senior Vice President — Human Resources

Stumpp is responsible for all aspects of global human resources, including employee relations, compensation, benefits, employee training and development, and safety and health. Stumpp joined Invacare in 1991 and was promoted to her current position in 2009. She also has experience in health care, small business and the service industry. She holds a B.A. in psychology and M.B.A. from the University of Toledo.
